Webinar

For over a century, Syria, especially the ancient Aleppo, has been a cornerstone of Western Armenian culture, serving as a refuge for survivors of the Armenian Genocide and a flourishing center of diaspora life. Yet the Syrian war, beginning in 2011, has shattered this legacy, displacing countless Armenians and eroding a once-vibrant community. As violence and instability persist, the future of Syria’s Armenian population hangs in the balance, with mass emigration and sectarian violence threatening its very existence. In this webinar, journalist and Aleppo native Kevork Almassian examines the devastating impact of the conflict on Syria’s Armenian community, analyzing its precarious present and uncertain future. This discussion will address urgent questions about cultural preservation, displacement, and the long-term viability of one of the Middle East’s most historic Armenian diasporas.
