The UCLA International Institute and its 25 centers and programs run a busy public events programs that spans lectures, symposia, panel discussions, book talks, conferences and artistic events. These events are frequently recorded and made available to the public, both on the institute website, individual center/program YouTube channels and Facebook pages. To date, we have published 812 podcasts and over 226 videos.
On May 29th, Dr. Raz Zimmt and Dr. Dalia Dassa Kaye discussed how Iran seeks to reassess its approach to its regional partners and proxies—specifically Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Assad regime in Syria—after having been significantly weakened over the last two years.
Can social media truly serve as a bridge between these historical rivals, or is it just another battlefield in a shadow war fought through screens? Dr. Liora Hendelman-Baavur's talk considers how digital platforms both foster connections and amplify divides, contributing to a complex new dimension of relations between the two nations.
